End Homophobia, Save Lives

Long after the original court decision that prohibited Catholic Charities in the dioceses of Joliet, Springfield and Belleville of Illinois from continuing to offer child adoptive and fostering services that discriminate against couples from the TBGLQ community as well as unmarried straight couples, Catholic Charities in Illinois is finally admitting defeat. That’s right! From now on none of us will be pestered by this hateful organization petitioning to have laws bent in such a manner that they be allowed to continue to discriminate against anyone their unsophisticated, immature and dishonest theology singles out as being ‘evil’ or egregiously sinful. I would like to preface this post by thanking @Volk613, who pointed me to this debate between William Lane Craig (WLC) and Stephen Law, which took place on October 17, 2011 at Westminster Central Hall and kicked off WLC’s Reasonable Faith Tour. The debate itself lasted an hour and a half, and was followed by a Q&A period, though I didn’t listen to this. It took me about three and a half or four hours to get through the debate, recording arguments as I went along. Between this and making chicken soup and apple pie from scratch, I simply didn’t have the patience to get through the Q&A as well. Read the rest of this entry →

Things are really getting heated in the State of Illinois with respect to the State and the catholic church. Back in January, Illinois Governor Pat Quin signed into law the Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act (IRFPCUA) which does not grant members of the TBLG community the right to marry, but it does give them the right to enter into civil unions; the IRFPCUA came into force on June 1, 2011. In addition to allowing members of the TBLG community to enter into civil unions, it also made it against the law for organizations receiving public money to deny adoption and foster care services to unmarried straight couples or TBLG couples. But now, in addition to fighting to have the State reverse its position on adoption and Read the rest of this entry →

Two of my recent blogs were concerned specifically with the nature of theology, that it is based on ignorance and dogma, and is one of the greatest forces of destruction in the world, both presently and historically. Many of the religious persuasion argue that secularism, if not atheism specifically, is responsible for some of the greatest crimes against humanity in history; violence carried out by order of people such as Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. These Commies, these atheists, those non-religious individuals have been responsible for far more pain and suffering. Read the rest of this entry →

Catholic Church Threatens Obama

The catholic church is at it again. Different catholic groups across the United States have been fighting their State governments regarding various pieces of legislation that have changes the legal definition of marriage to include members of the TBLG community. They are upset because the redefinition of marriage contradicts their own, and is affecting their ability to discriminate against individuals of the TBLG community. But despite their biching and moaning, they have been losing their fight. And now, with the Obama Administration warming up to same-sex marriage, the catholics are, shall we say, up in arms.
